WELCOME TO KIRKGATE MARKET

Leeds Kirkgate Market invited us to bring new energy to their south entrance — a bustling gateway used daily by visitors from the outdoor market and nearby Leeds Bus Station. Our brief was to design a striking wall mural, along with bold entrance door and window decals, that would capture the market’s vibrant atmosphere and showcase its amazing street food and fresh produce.

The goal was simple: to transform the space into a colourful, welcoming focal point that celebrates the spirit of the market and tempts more people inside.

As part of our research, we spent time exploring the market to get a true feel for the space and its surroundings. We wanted our design to complement the existing wall colour and the mural opposite the project area, creating a sense of harmony while adding something fresh. A bright, playful colour palette was essential — something eye-catching enough to draw in passers-by and reflect the lively spirit of the market.

From initial concept through to final installation, the project came together over a four-week period.
