THE BRIEF
To design a fun, family-friendly campaign for the ‘Summer at the Museums’ from University of Cambridge Museums.
SUMMER AT THE MUSEUMS
We were commissioned to design a suite of promotional materials for the Summer at the Museums campaign, including a poster, flyer, social media graphics, and banners.
The aim of the marketing campaign is to provide fun, family activities throughout the school summer holidays, raising awareness of local museums and heritage organisations across Cambridge.
To make the materials more engaging for families, we proposed adding a children’s activity to the back of the flyer—something fun that would encourage them to keep it for longer. The final design featured an Odd One Out game and a Crack the Code puzzle, turning the flyer into an interactive, educational keepsake that complemented the campaign’s playful and family-friendly spirit.
We incorporated a playful and vibrant colour palette bursting with bright, cheerful tones designed to spark joy, creativity, and fun at first glance.
CAMPAIGN CHARACTERS - ‘Fern, Urbi and Nook’
Meet the three playful characters; Fern, Urbi and Nook, who together spell out ‘FUN’ — bringing the Summer at the Museums campaign to life! Designed to capture the imagination of children and families, and improve engagement and memorability.
“We were delighted with these joyful, vibrant designs for our summer programme and really valued Charlie’s expertise in bringing in an interactive, playful element.
Charlie had a great understanding of the brief and was a friendly, flexible and responsive person to work with.
Thank you!”
